Edmonton duo splicing oi! stomp with synth-lit post-punk and anthemic 80s gloss. One of the more distinctive sounds on the bill.

Home Front formed in Edmonton in 2021 when Graeme McKinnon, previously of Wednesday Night Heroes, joined with Clint Frazier, formerly of Shout Out Out Out Out. Both brought years of experience from Canadian punk and hardcore bands before turning to the duo's own sound.

Their records set the blunt, chanted choruses of oi! against synthesisers, drum machines and the widescreen production of 1980s British new wave, drawing comparisons to Echo and the Bunnymen, Blitz and The Cure. Street-punk vocal delivery sits over glossy keyboard hooks, a pairing that rarely occurs elsewhere.

The band released the EP Think of the Lie in 2021, followed by the album Games of Power in 2023, produced by Jonah Falco of Fucked Up and mixed by Nik Kozub, Frazier's bandmate in Shout Out Out Out Out. A further EP, Nation, appeared the same year, all through the British label La Vida Es Un Mus.

Games of Power was longlisted for the 2023 Polaris Music Prize. The touring line-up expanded in 2022 with the addition of Bendy Straws on bass, Ian Boothman on guitar and War Dog on drums. A second album, Watch It Die, followed in November 2025 and was longlisted for the 2026 Polaris Music Prize.
