The Frank and Walters

1 festival played

Cork indie-pop lifers — 'After All' has outlived every scene it was filed under, and they still play it like it's new.

The Frank and Walters formed in Cork in 1989 around brothers Paul Linehan on bass and vocals and Niall Linehan on guitar, with Ashley Keating on drums. Their early records paired fast, chiming guitar lines with Paul Linehan's plain-spoken Cork accent, and the band turned up in the British music press wearing matching orange, which did as much for their profile as the songs did for a while.

The debut album Trains, Boats and Planes appeared in 1992, and "After All" became a UK hit the following year. They have kept recording and gigging since, mostly at their own pace and often around Cork, where the group has stayed based rather than relocating to London.
