The Kids

1 festival played

Belgian originals who started in 1976 and never much updated the formula — short, blunt, power-pop-tinged punk from the first wave.

The Kids came together in Belgium in 1976 and were among the first punk bands to emerge from the country, with Ludo Mariman as the constant presence across the group's history. Their early records paired short, fast songs with a clear debt to 1960s beat and power pop, sung mostly in English, and dealt bluntly with boredom, authority and small-town life. The band's first albums remain the reference points for Belgian punk of that period, and The Kids have continued to perform and record over the decades without substantially altering the approach.
