Goldblade were formed in Manchester in 1994 by John Robb, previously the bassist and singer in the post-punk band The Membranes. The group play fast, rhythm-driven punk rock with rock and roll and soul inflections, often with call-and-response vocals and a strong emphasis on live performance.
Robb is also known outside the band as a music journalist, author and broadcaster, founder of the website Louder Than War, and a frequent commentator on punk history.
