Manchester producer who co-wrote the garage revival's biggest crossover single — 'B.O.T.A.' bounce with deep scene credentials.

Interplanetary Criminal is the professional name of Zachary Koa Bruce, born in 1993 in Blackburn to a half-Singaporean mother. He spent parts of his childhood in Liverpool and Bolton before settling in Greater Manchester. He began DJing and producing around 2012 while studying at Manchester's School of Sound Recording, initially working in a darker breakbeat style.

A move to Leeds pushed him toward lo-fi house, inspired by producers such as Mall Grab and DJ Seinfeld. Back in Manchester from 2016, he started posting UK garage tracks on SoundCloud, releasing his debut EP, Intergalactic Jack, in 2017 through E-Beamz, followed by further EPs on labels including Shall Not Fade and Timeisnow.

In 2019 he co-founded ATW Records with fellow producer Main Phase, a label built specifically around contemporary UK garage and breakbeat.

His breakthrough came with "B.O.T.A. (Baddest of Them All)", made with Eliza Rose and released independently through Rosebud Recordings in June 2022 before being picked up by Warner. The track went viral on TikTok and held the UK number one for two weeks, coinciding with the death of Queen Elizabeth II. It earned a BRIT Award nomination for Song of the Year and has since been certified double platinum.

In 2025 he won a Juno Award for Dance Recording of the Year for "No Time", featuring SadBoi.
