Manchester's hyper-collage electronics — noise, pop, and motorsport samples spliced into club music with a crash-test thrill.

Jennifer Walton is an electronic producer born in Sunderland and now based in London. She has long been linked to Manchester's circle of producers working in hyperactive, collage-based club music, and is often placed within that scene despite her southern base.

Her productions cut between noise, pop fragments, breakbeats and found audio, assembled at speed with abrupt changes of direction, and she has drawn on motorsport recordings as source material. She has also worked as a mix and mastering engineer for other artists in the same circle, and her live sets favour density and sudden shifts over steady progression.

After fifteen years working with other artists and touring as a session drummer, Walton released her debut solo album, Daughters, last autumn. She has described the record as Northern England Americana, its songs built from imagery of rattling barns, clapboard houses, dead animals, glowing motels, gas station perfume and infinite skies, with a cover photograph of a plaited lock of hair on a pink silk cushion.

The album's reference points include the painter Edward Hopper, the manga artists Hakushi Hasegawa and Shintaro Kago, Vietnam War radio broadcasts and Julia Holter, alongside the woozier pop of Grouper, Lana Del Rey and Ethel Cain.
