Technicolor rave nostalgia — breakbeats bathed in VHS sunshine, hardcore's golden era remembered warmer than it ever actually sounded.

Lone is the recording name of Matt Cutler, a producer from Nottingham who has released music through labels including Magic Wire, Werkdiscs and R&S. His work draws on early-1990s British rave and hardcore — breakbeats, pitched-up vocal samples, rolling basslines — but filters it through bright, hazy synth textures closer to instrumental hip-hop and house. Earlier releases leaned more towards beat-tape abstraction; later records moved further into club tempos while keeping the same saturated, melodic palette. He also performs DJ sets alongside live material.
