The Good, The Bad and The Zugly formed in 2011, drawing its members from the Hadeland area of Norway. The lineup pairs guitarists Eirik Melstrøm and Kim Skaug with bassist Lars Gulbrandsen, drummer Magne Vannebo and vocalist Ivar Nikolaisen, who also fronts the band Kvelertak.
Playing fast, guitar-heavy hardcore with a strong debt to Scandinavian punk and rock, the band favors songs that are short and direct. Titles and lyrics run to deadpan humour, which has become as much a part of their identity as the riffs.
Misanthropical House won the Spellemannprisen, Norway's main music award, in the rock category in 2018, and three further albums, Hadeland Hardcore, Algorithm & Blues and Research and Destroy, brought nominations in 2015, 2020 and 2022. The band has toured widely across Europe, and its records have kept largely to the same blunt, unfussy formula throughout.
