Early-'80s Southern California punk with more melody than their hardcore neighbours — first-generation SoCal scene veterans still swinging.
Channel 3, often written CH3, formed in Cerritos, California in 1980 and became part of the first wave of Southern California punk. Led by Mike Magrann and Kimm Gardener, the band recorded for Posh Boy Records early on, and their songs leaned more on melody and hooks than many of the harder-edged hardcore groups around them. "Manzanar" remains among their best-known tracks. The group has continued to perform and record intermittently in the decades since.
