Maid of Ace
Four sisters playing ferocious, unfussy punk with no gimmick beyond how hard they hit — Hastings family business, all fury.
Maid of Ace are made up of four sisters from Hastings: Alison Cara Elliott and Anna Coral Elliott on vocals and guitar, Amy Catherine Elliott on bass and vocals, and Abby Charlotte Elliott on drums. They played their first gig together in 2005, while still at secondary school.
The band plays fast, short, straightforwardly aggressive punk rock, built on shouted vocals and little studio polish. Rather than chasing radio attention, they built their following through relentless live work in UK clubs and at grassroots punk events, gig after gig.
They have self-released three albums to date, including Maid in England, reviewed by Louder Than War's Ged Babey. Coverage of the band has also appeared in the magazine Vive Le Rock and on BBC Radio 6 Music, recognition unusual for a band that has stayed largely outside the mainstream punk press.
In June 2024 the band supported Green Day on the UK and Ireland leg of the Saviors Tour, a run of shows that included a date at Wembley Stadium, a considerable step up from the club circuit that built their name.
