YOASOBI

YOASOBI is a Japanese duo formed in 2019, pairing producer Ayase with vocalist Ikura. The project's premise is that each song adapts a piece of short fiction, usually stories published online, into a pop track. Their debut, 'Yoru ni Kakeru', became a substantial domestic hit, and 'Idol', written as the opening theme for the anime Oshi no Ko, reached a wide international audience. Ayase's writing favours rapid tempo shifts, dense chord movement and vocal lines that sit high in Ikura's range. On stage the duo performs with a full backing band, which gives the studio arrangements a harder rock edge.
