Better Lovers
Every Time I Die and Dillinger Escape Plan alumni reconvened — frantic, technical, and unusually fun for music this dense, with the swagger of veterans who have nothing to prove.
Better Lovers formed in Buffalo, New York, in 2023, bringing together Greg Puciato of The Dillinger Escape Plan with Jordan Buckley, Steve Micciche and Clayton Holyoak, who had all played in Every Time I Die. The music draws on both lineages: the angular, rhythmically unstable riffing of mathcore alongside the southern-tinged hardcore swagger of the members' previous band. Songs tend to be short and dense, with abrupt time changes and Puciato alternating between screamed and sung vocals. The group released its debut EP in 2023 and has toured steadily since.
