The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza formed in the United States in 2004 and became one of the more extreme acts associated with mid-2000s mathcore. The music combines deathgrind speed and low-tuned riffing with abrupt metrical shifts and stop-start arrangements, topped by shouted and screamed vocals. Their absurdist name sat in deliberate contrast to the density of the material, something the band leaned into with similarly long and unwieldy song and album titles. After a period of inactivity following their initial run, they have returned to playing shows.
