Cane Hill
New Orleans four-piece who came up alongside the nu-metal revival and then kept mutating — sludge, industrial grime and hooks delivered with a Southern sneer.
Cane Hill formed in New Orleans in 2011 and were among the bands credited with reviving interest in nu metal in the middle of the following decade, helped by their signing to Rise Records. Their early material paired downtuned, groove-heavy riffing with electronic textures and Elijah Witt's mix of shouted and sung delivery, drawing obvious comparison to the American metal of two decades earlier.
Rather than settle there, the band pulled steadily towards sludge, industrial noise and Southern-tinged heaviness across subsequent releases, at one point detouring into a largely acoustic record. The Louisiana influence stays audible in the drawl and the murk.
