Chalk are a group from Belfast who formed toward the end of the 2010s. Their music sits between guitar-based post-punk and club electronics, built on hard, repetitive industrial and techno rhythms with distorted synths and declaimed vocals over the top. Recordings tend to be short and dense, and the band's live shows lean on volume, strobing light and a continuous, DJ-like flow rather than conventional song breaks. They have become one of the more visible acts to emerge from Northern Ireland's recent guitar and electronic crossover scene.
