Outer Banks post-punk dream-pop — politically charged atmospherics shot through with garage and progressive fury, coastal isolation turned up loud.

Cor de Lux is a band from Dare County on North Carolina's Outer Banks, working in a space between post-punk and dream pop. Rather than move somewhere with more infrastructure for the kind of music they wanted to make, vocalist-guitarists Dawn Moraga and Tim Lusk, bassist John Bliven and drummer Jacob Richardson built a scene for themselves at home.

Their music combines reverb-heavy guitar textures and layered vocals with a rhythmic drive closer to garage rock, and the arrangements often stretch beyond conventional verse-chorus shapes, pulling in shoegaze and post-hardcore alongside art rock.

The band has released two self-recorded albums, Cor de Lux in 2020 and Media in 2023, developing their sound gradually through steady rehearsal and frequent live shows rather than outside production help.

Press attention has followed the records and the band's reputation for intense performances, with outlets singling out both the propulsion of their playing and their ability to shift between rushing percussion and quieter, more ambient stretches.
