Raleigh's own knotty indie rock — trembling, wiry guitars and confessional intensity that snaps from whisper to burst, homegrown and critically adored.

Truth Club is an indie rock band from Raleigh, North Carolina, fronted by singer Travis Harrington alongside drummer Elise Jaffe and guitarist-bassists Kameron Vann and Yvonne Chazal, who also sings. The group emerged from the Triangle area's DIY scene, drawing attention through independent releases and steady touring.

Their songs pair angular, tightly wound guitar interplay with vocals that shift between restraint and sudden volume, a structure that owes something to 1990s indie and post-hardcore. Dynamics are written into the arrangements themselves, so the slow, eerie build of a track like "77x" can give way to the more direct thrust of "Clover."

The band's album Running From the Chase was recorded with producer Alex Farrar, who has also worked with Wednesday, Snail Mail and Angel Olsen, at Drop of Sun Studios in Asheville during the spring and summer of 2022. Farrar's studio put the band at ease enough to experiment with both songwriting and sequencing.

Harrington wrote much of the record through a period of personal hardship, and its title points to the strain of balancing individual desires against outside expectations. The songs move between despair and frustration without settling into either, and the band has said making the record deepened its sense of shared purpose.
