Built on enormous vocal trance singles — the anthems are the entire point and the set is arranged around them.

Dash Berlin formed in The Hague as a trio, with Jeffrey Sutorius fronting the project as DJ and vocalist while Eelke Kalberg and Sebastiaan Molijn handled production; Sutorius had come up as a vinyl trance collector and record-store worker before releasing his first record on the label BPM Legends. The group was voted the seventh most popular DJ act in the world by DJ Mag in 2012.

Kalberg and Molijn brought more than two decades of production credits into the project, having written hits for acts including Alice Deejay, Vengaboys and Candee Jay; their track "Better Off Alone" was one of the first trance records to break through in the United States and was later sampled by David Guetta on "Play Hard" and Wiz Khalifa on "Say Yeah." They also produced remixes for Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson and Usher.

The group's early singles, including "Till the Sky Falls Down" and "Man on the Run," established a template of slow-building vocal trance with prominent piano and guitar-like leads, and the debut album The New Daylight followed. A collaboration with Cerf, Mitiska & Jaren, "Man on the Run," and later work with Emma Hewitt kept the project in heavy rotation across trance radio shows.

In 2018 Sutorius split from Kalberg and Molijn, citing mismanagement, and began releasing music under his own name while Dash Berlin continued as a duo; he won legal ownership of the Dash Berlin name in 2019, only for Kalberg and Molijn to reclaim the trademark in 2021, sending Sutorius back to performing under his own name. Ryan Fieret served as the project's frontman between 2022 and 2026, before Sutorius regained sole ownership of Dash Berlin in 2026.
