Progressive house's perfectionist — HOLO visuals, Pryda melodies, and drops engineered like Swiss watchmaking.

Eric Prydz was born on 19 July 1976 in Sweden and broke through in 2004 with 'Call on Me', which topped the UK singles chart for five weeks and the German Top 100 for six. The track's success was enormous, but Prydz later stopped playing it live in an effort to distance himself from it.

He followed with 'Proper Education' in 2007, a reworking of Pink Floyd's 'Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2', and 'Pjanoo' in 2008, which topped the UK Dance Chart and remains among his most recognised productions. Around the same period he ran informally with Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello, though he chose not to join when the three later formalised Swedish House Mafia; he has since worked with Axwell as Axer and with Angello as A&P Project.

Under the Pryda alias he introduced the 'Pryda snare', a compressed, sustained snare sample first heard on 'Miami to Atlanta' in 2009, later widely sampled by other producers including Martin Garrix, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and W&W. Cirez D carries the harder, stripped-back techno side of his output.

His debut artist album, Eric Prydz Presents Pryda, arrived in 2012 as a three-disc set mixing new productions with classics from his catalogue, and Opus followed in 2016. Pete Tong named his 2013 Essential Mix the Essential Mix of the Year, and in 2017 Prydz won DJ of the Year at the Electronic Music Awards.

Prydz is known for meticulous studio work and for large-scale live productions, including the EPIC shows and the HOLO concept, which uses holographic projection and extensive lighting design. He has a reputation for holding unreleased material back for years, testing tracks in his sets long before they are issued.
