The supergroup that built main-stage house — 'Don't You Worry Child' euphoria at pier scale, reunion-era lasers included.

Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso grew up together in Stockholm and had been collaborating under various aliases for years before Axwell joined them after a chance meeting. Fellow Swede Eric Prydz played shows alongside the three in the mid-2000s, and it was fans and promoters who began billing the group as Swedish House Mafia before Prydz opted out and the trio formally adopted the name in 2008.

Their sound is built for outdoor crowds: progressive and electro house arranged around slow builds, big synth leads and vocal hooks, a style credited with pulling progressive house out of the underground and into the mainstream alongside their countryman Avicii. DJ Mag ranked them tenth in its Top 100 poll in 2011.

"One (Your Name)" with Pharrell Williams and "Miami 2 Ibiza" with Tinie Tempah were international hits in 2010, gathered onto the compilation Until One, which reached the top five of UK and US dance charts. A farewell tour followed 2012's Until Now, and the group announced their split that June, playing a final show at Ultra Miami in March 2013.

Angello worked solo afterward while Axwell and Ingrosso continued performing together as a duo; the trio reunited with a surprise set at Ultra Miami's twentieth anniversary in 2018. Their first studio album, Paradise Again, followed in 2022, led by singles including "Moth to a Flame" with the Weeknd and "Redlight" with Sting, and reached number one on the Billboard and UK dance album charts.
