Gameface formed in Orange County, California in 1990, led by singer and guitarist Jeff Caudill. The band came up alongside the region's punk and emo scenes but worked in a more melodic register, favouring ringing guitars, mid-tempo drive and direct, unadorned lyrics about work, friendship and getting older. They recorded for labels including Revelation Records, and their albums have been steady touchstones for listeners who follow the melodic side of 1990s American punk. After a long stretch of inactivity, the band resumed playing and recording, and Caudill has also released material under his own name.
