'Sedona' and campfire-rock warmth from the Indiana border — loose, nostalgic Americana with harmonies to spare.
Houndmouth formed in 2011 in New Albany, Indiana, across the river from Louisville, and signed to Rough Trade for its debut, From the Hills Below the City. The band's early work drew on roots rock, country and blues, with all members contributing vocals and the harmonies serving as a defining feature. The 2015 album Little Neon Limelight produced 'Sedona,' the song that remains the group's best known. Founding member Katie Toupin left afterward, and the band has continued with a somewhat looser, more varied approach on subsequent releases while keeping the ragged, communal quality of the earlier records.
