Wyatt Flores
Oklahoma red-dirt songwriter who went from dorm-room recordings to theatres in about eighteen months — Stillwater sincerity at full sprint.
Wyatt Flores was born June 29, 2001, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Noe Flores, a retired welder and former drummer, and Shannon Flores, a school administrator; his sister Alicia now works on his crew as merchandising director. His uncle Bobby had played alongside his father and Scott Lester and Kelley Green, who went on to join red dirt group The Great Divide and later mentored Flores directly.
He began writing songs while studying at Oklahoma State University, citing Evan Felker and the Turnpike Troubadours as his main influence. Clips of his song 'Please Don't Go' spread online quickly enough that he left school; the track debuted at number 43 on the Hot Country Songs chart in December 2023, taken from his EP The Hutson Sessions.
His writing stays plainspoken and often grief-adjacent, working through family, loss, small-town life and mental health over arrangements that keep fiddle and acoustic guitar close to the front. In February 2024 he paused touring to deal with his own mental health and impostor syndrome, resuming shows that April.
Flores released the EP Half Life in April 2024 and his debut album, Welcome to the Plains, through Island Records that October, led by the single 'Don't Wanna Say Goodnight.' He performed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert around the album's release and recorded an episode of Austin City Limits in 2025.
His 2026 collaboration 'Didn't Forget,' with Waylon Wyatt, was named one of Billboard's best new country songs of the week; that April he received the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame's Rising Star award in Stillwater. His second album, Scared of Heights, built around his experience with anxiety, followed that July, alongside collaborations with Diplo, Charles Wesley Godwin and Carter Faith.
