Kiely Connell
Calumet-region grit relocated to Nashville — smoky, hard-luck Americana with a poet's eye for the rust belt and a barroom voice to match.
Kiely Connell grew up in Hammond, Indiana, in the industrial Calumet region south of Chicago, and later based herself in Nashville. Her songwriting draws on that background, with narratives about working-class life, family and hard circumstance set against sparse Americana and country arrangements. She sings in a low, weathered register that carries much of the weight of the material, and her recordings tend to favour restraint over polish, leaving space around the voice and the guitar.
