Ellum boss whose sets swing from deep melodic house into hard, driving techno without warning — two decades of shape-shifting authority.

Maceo Plex is the main alias of Eric Estornel, a Cuban-American producer and DJ who came up through the American underground before becoming a fixture in European club culture. He has also recorded as Maetrik and Mariel Ito, and his profile widened considerably after the album Life Index appeared on Crosstown Rebels in 2011.

He runs the Ellum label, which he founded to release his own material alongside other producers working in the space between deep house and techno. His productions and DJ sets favour long, patient builds, heavy low end and synth lines that lean toward the cinematic, and he has spent much of his career playing extended sets in European clubs.
