Ryan Beatty was born on September 25, 1995, in Clovis, California, and now lives in Los Angeles. As a teenager he posted cover songs on YouTube, including a version of Bruno Mars' Marry You that drew millions of views, and released his debut single, Every Little Thing, in 2011, followed by the EP Because of You in 2012.
That early profile came with a national ad campaign for AT&T and a tour opening for Cody Simpson, but Beatty felt boxed in by his teen-idol image. In 2013 he fired his management team, a decision that led to a legal dispute with his label and kept him from releasing new music until 2016.
He re-emerged that year through work with Brockhampton, contributing to their albums Saturation II and Saturation III, and in 2018 signed to Benny Blanco's Mad Love Records for his debut album, Boy in Jeans. He continued working with the group on Ginger and with member Kevin Abstract on Arizona Baby, and also collaborated with Tyler, the Creator on Igor.
Beyond his own albums, Dreaming of David in 2020 and Calico in 2023, Beatty co-wrote four songs for Beyoncé's 2024 album Cowboy Carter, work that won him a Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
