Modern pop-punk standard-bearers — gruff, fast, and beloved, Walnut Creek's chip-on-shoulder anthems in full stride, pits and singalongs in equal measure.

The Story So Far formed in Walnut Creek, California, in 2007, taking its name from a New Found Glory song. The original lineup was Parker Cannon on vocals, Kevin Geyer and Kevin Ambrose on guitars, Kelen Capener on bass and Ryan Torf on drums, and they closed out that year with a self-released EP, 5 Songs. Ambrose left for college in 2010 and was replaced by William Levy.

Parker Cannon's shouted, largely unmelodic vocals sit over fast, palm-muted guitars and hard-hitting drums, closer to melodic hardcore than to the polished pop-punk of the previous generation. Their songs tend to be short and blunt, often built around interpersonal grievance, and live shows are known for crowd movement and audience singing.

Signed to Pure Noise Records in 2010, the band issued the EP While You Were Sleeping the same year and a split with Maker that November. Their debut album, Under Soil and Dirt, arrived in 2011, followed in 2013 by What You Don't See, which entered the Billboard 200 at number 46 and led to a cover feature in Alternative Press.

The band played the entirety of Warped Tour's main stage in 2014, the same year they released the acoustic EP Songs Of, built around one new song and a Bob Marley cover. Their self-titled third album followed in 2015, and Proper Dose, issued in 2018, debuted at number 19 on the Billboard 200 before European and US tours with bands including Citizen, Movements and Turnover.
