Veronica Maggio is a singer and songwriter from Uppsala, born to an Italian father and a Swedish mother, who has sung almost entirely in Swedish throughout her career. Her debut album Vatten och bröd appeared in 2006, and she has since become one of the most widely heard pop artists in the country.

Her writing is conversational and detailed, often about relationships, drinking and small humiliations, set to arrangements that borrow from soul and, on later records, from hip-hop and electronic production. The 2011 album Satan i gatan, which included the single Jag kommer, is generally regarded as her breakthrough on a national scale.
