Wolves at the Gate came together in Ohio in 2008 and signed to Solid State Records, the metal-focused arm of Tooth & Nail, releasing its first album, Captors, in 2012. The band's approach sets Steve Cobucci's melodic clean singing against harsher screamed vocals, over the twin-guitar riffing and breakdowns typical of metalcore. Its lyrics draw openly on Christian theology and scripture, which has kept the group closely tied to the Christian hardcore and metalcore circuit while it has continued releasing records across more than a decade.
