Toronto's genre-splicing club force — dancehall, jungle, and R&B collide in her JELLY parties and productions, remapping the dancefloor around diasporic bass.
Bambii is the stage name of Kirsten Azan, a Jamaican-Canadian DJ and producer who came up through Toronto's nightclub scene, working as much as a party organiser and selector as a recording artist before her reputation spread well beyond the city.
Her sets and productions draw on dancehall, jungle, soca, house and R&B in roughly equal measure, reflecting the Caribbean-Canadian music culture she grew up around in Toronto. The tracks favour fast tempo shifts, heavy low end and vocals borrowed from sound-system traditions, carrying the same logic from her DJ sets into her own records.
Her 2023 EP Infinity Club applied that approach to record form, earning a four-star review from NME and a shortlist nod for the Polaris Music Prize. It went on to win the Juno Award for Electronic Album of the Year in 2024.
