Their songs pair deadpan, half-spoken vocals in broad West Country accents with disco and funk-derived grooves, and the lyrics tend to dwell on small domestic frustrations, jobs, shopping and the general texture of British life. The comedy is dry rather than novelty, and the rhythm section is played straight enough that the songs work as dance music.
