Gwen Stefani grew up in Anaheim, California and came to prominence as the singer of No Doubt, the ska-punk band she joined in the 1980s alongside her brother Eric. The group's 1995 album Tragic Kingdom, and singles including "Just a Girl" and "Don't Speak", made it one of the most widely heard bands of the decade.
Her solo career began with Love. Angel. Music. Baby. in 2004, a record that moved toward dance-pop and hip-hop production and produced "Hollaback Girl" and "Rich Girl". She followed it with The Sweet Escape and later albums, and has also worked as a television talent-show coach and in fashion. No Doubt has reunited periodically.
