Holy Wars is a Los Angeles project active since 2013, centred on vocalist Kat Leon. The music pairs dark, cinematic alt-pop writing with heavy low end and drums, drawing on rock dynamics as much as pop structure, and Leon has spoken about writing much of the material in the aftermath of family loss.
The band has released a run of EPs and singles, and its songs have been used in television and film placements. Live, the emphasis falls on volume and theatricality, with Leon's voice carrying the melodies over a dense, bass-forward arrangement.
