Bright, funk-tinged pop-punk from a duo with an unusually sharp sense of groove — scene revival with actual rhythm-section chops.

Honey Revenge formed in Los Angeles in 2021 out of an earlier band, Forever Emerald, that Devin Papadol put together while studying at Musicians Institute in Hollywood. Guitarist Donny Lloyd joined that five-piece after seeing a video of it online, and when the other members left during the pandemic, Papadol and Lloyd carried on as a duo.

Their songs work within contemporary pop-punk but lean on funk and R&B rhythm playing, with bass and guitar parts that groove more than drive. The pair have cited You Me at Six, Paramore, The Band Camino, Demi Lovato and Hannah Montana as influences on that sound.

After early singles including 'Miss Me' and 'Distracted,' the band signed to Thriller Records in 2022. Their debut album, Retrovision, followed in June 2023 and drew positive reviews from Kerrang! and Distorted Sound Magazine, built around songs such as 'Are You Impressed?', 'Worst Apology' and 'Favorite Song.'

Honey Revenge toured widely alongside other bands from the pop-punk revival and kept releasing new material afterward, including an expanded edition of Retrovision in 2024 and later singles such as 'Recipe for Disaster,' 'Risk' and 'Poison Apple Baby.' Papadol's vocals and Lloyd's rhythmic guitar work remain the most noted elements of the group's sound.
