Joost Klein
Dutch rapper-comedian making maximalist, deeply sincere Eurodance-rap out of grief and internet nonsense in equal measure — 'Europapa' the joyful proof.
Joost Klein is a rapper, singer and producer from Leeuwarden in the Dutch province of Friesland. He began posting music and comedy videos online as a teenager and built a following in the Netherlands with a style that mixes rap, hardstyle and Eurodance influences with absurdist humour, often delivered in Dutch. His songs frequently return to the deaths of his parents, whom he lost as a child, and the loneliness that followed.
He represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2024 with "Europapa," a hyperactive Eurodance track written as a tribute to his father and to the idea of a shared Europe. The song became a hit across the continent. Klein was disqualified from the contest's final following an incident backstage.
