Madeon

2 festivals played

A prodigy who grew into a genuine songwriter — dense, sample-stacked electropop with an unusually bright emotional register, joy engineered live.

Madeon is Hugo Leclercq, a producer from Nantes, France, born in 1994. He drew wide attention in 2011 with "Pop Culture," a live mashup of 39 songs performed on a Novation Launchpad and posted to YouTube, and followed it with singles including "Icarus" and "Finale." His debut album Adventure appeared in 2015, and Good Faith in 2019.

His music combines French house filtering and sidechained synths with pop songwriting, layered vocal chops and unusually bright chord choices; he sings on much of his later work. He has collaborated with Porter Robinson on "Shelter" and the accompanying tour, and contributed production to other artists' records.
