Horror-movie theatrics welded to industrial-tinged metalcore — corpse paint, synths, and choruses built for an arena singalong, Halloween as a year-round genre.

Motionless In White grew out of a group of Scranton, Pennsylvania high schoolers who played their first shows under different names before settling on Motionless In White on New Year's Day, 2005. The name comes from the Eighteen Visions song "Motionless and White." Chris Cerulli, who performs as Chris Motionless, is the only member remaining from that original lineup.

The band's music draws on metalcore structures but adds industrial and gothic elements: programmed synths, electronic percussion and clean, hook-driven choruses, alongside a visual presentation borrowed from horror cinema and goth subculture.

Chris Motionless has pointed to Poison the Well, Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, Johnny Cash and Depeche Mode as reference points, a spread that explains the pull between aggressive metalcore riffing and synth-pop melody running through the band's records.

Motionless In White signed to Fearless Records for its first three albums before moving to Roadrunner Records for Graveyard Shift in 2017. Disguise followed in 2019, Scoring the End of the World in 2022 and Decades in 2026, tracking a steady climb from Warped Tour support slot to headline draw.

Records including Creatures, Infamous and Graveyard Shift charted the group's move from a scene-oriented sound toward heavier, more polished production, and the band has since become a consistent draw on the American hard-rock touring circuit. Songs such as "Reincarnate" and "Voices" are staples of the live set.
