Paris Jackson
Writes plainspoken, grunge-tinged rock songs and has been quietly building a real catalogue away from the surname — the songs stand on their own.
Paris Jackson was born in Beverly Hills, California, in 1998, the only daughter of Michael Jackson and Debbie Rowe. After her parents divorced, she was raised largely by her father at Neverland Ranch alongside her brothers, with Elizabeth Taylor and Macaulay Culkin as her godparents, and often wore a mask in public as a child to shield her identity from the press.
Her father died in 2009, when she was eleven; she spoke briefly at his memorial service before being taken into the care of her grandmother Katherine and cousin TJ Jackson. She attended the Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, California, alongside her brother Prince.
Jackson works as a model and actor alongside her music, writing songs in a vein of alternative rock and indie folk that favour direct, unadorned language, often drawing on personal experience, set against acoustic guitar or a heavier band arrangement depending on the record.
She signed to Republic Records in 2020 and released her debut album, Wilted, the same year. Her sound has since moved away from the folk leanings of her earliest material toward a heavier, more distorted rock sound, and she performs regularly with a live band.
