Sabrina Teitelbaum writes plainspoken, furious guitar songs about bad relationships and worse coping mechanisms — '90s alt-rock bones under a razor-sharp modern eye.

Sabrina Teitelbaum was born in New York City and raised in Midtown Manhattan, where she began writing songs and taking singing lessons around age seven. She attended the Dalton School before moving to Los Angeles in 2015 to study songwriting at the USC Thornton School of Music, leaving the program after two years to pursue music full-time.

Before settling on Blondshell, Teitelbaum released music as BAUM between 2017 and 2020, including the singles "First," "Hot Water" and "Effortless" and the EP Ungodly. Her BAUM single "This Body" was used in a Target advertising campaign, and she played her first festival show, South by Southwest, during that period.

She debuted as Blondshell in June 2022 with the single "Olympus," followed by a self-titled debut album in April 2023 on Partisan Records that drew positive reviews. The music leans on the shapes of 1990s alternative rock: loud-quiet dynamics, distorted guitars, unhurried tempos, with lyrics delivered close to the microphone in a conversational tone.

The songs deal with addiction, desire, resentment and self-knowledge, often turning on a single blunt line rather than a chorus hook. Teitelbaum performs with a full band that keeps the arrangements relatively spare, and has toured with Suki Waterhouse, Horsegirl and Porridge Radio.

Beyond touring, she has performed at Austin City Limits Music Festival and on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, part of a run of steady critical attention that has followed the project since its start.
