The Drowns

The Drowns are a punk band from Seattle, working in a street-punk idiom that also draws on 1970s hard rock: twin guitar leads, shouted group choruses and mid-tempo songs built for singing along. Their records have been released by Pirates Press, a label closely associated with that corner of American punk.
The band trade vocal duties between members, which gives the choruses their layered, crowd-like quality, and the writing tends towards working-life subject matter rather than politics in the abstract. Live, the emphasis is on volume and momentum, with the rock'n'roll guitar playing kept audible under the shouting.
