The Courettes
Wall-of-sound '60s girl-group pop played by a two-piece with a fuzz pedal and no restraint — Danish-Brazilian duo, Spector-sized.
The Courettes are a duo based in Denmark, comprising Brazilian guitarist and singer Flavia Couri and Danish drummer Martin Couri. They play a compressed version of 1960s garage rock and girl-group pop, with fuzz guitar, tambourine and reverb-heavy production that deliberately recalls the density of Phil Spector's records, all produced by just two people.
Their albums have leaned progressively further into that wall-of-sound approach, pairing simple, repetitive song structures with layered percussion and echo. On stage the pair perform as a two-piece, with Couri singing and playing guitar while Martin drums.
