Wiry garage-punk provocateur — caustic wit, scuzzy riffs, and restless reinvention from record to record, never the same band twice.

Ron Gallo is a songwriter and guitarist who came up in Philadelphia, first with the band Toy Soldiers, before relocating to Nashville and starting a solo career. His 2017 album Heavy Meta established the template: fuzzed-out garage rock delivered with a sharp, sardonic lyrical eye. It included the single "Young Lady, You're Scaring Me," which went on to rack up tens of millions of streams. Stardust Birthday Party followed in 2018, turning inward toward questions of ego and self-help culture.

Later records have pushed further from straight garage rock, taking in noisier and more electronic textures, and Gallo has continued releasing through independent labels. He now has five albums to his name, with his latest, checkmate, out on Kill Rock Stars, pulling back to just voice and guitar and focusing on what remains steady in an unstable world.

Alongside his records, Gallo runs an ongoing project called "7AM Songs of Resistance for the Internet," writing and posting daily songs addressing current events, a series that has grown past ninety entries and reached a wide audience online. In 2023 he published his first book, Social Meteor.

Live, the material tends to be loud, fast and loose, with the between-song commentary as much a part of the performance as the songs.
