fanclubwallet
Hannah Judge's bedroom-built indie rock — wry, fuzzed-out, and quietly anxious, small songs with hooks that refuse to leave.
fanclubwallet is the project of Hannah Judge, from Ottawa, Ontario. It began as home recordings made with producer Michael Watson, and wider attention came first through a cover of Talking Heads' "This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)," which circulated online before any of her original material broke through.
The songs pair fuzzy guitars and programmed drums with a conversational, deadpan vocal delivery, and often deal with illness, uncertainty and everyday frustration in fairly direct terms. Judge has spoken about writing while managing a chronic illness, and the material tends to be short, hook-driven and understated rather than expansive.
Judge's first EP, Hurt is Boring, appeared in 2021, followed by the debut album You Have Got to Be Kidding Me in 2022, the year NME named fanclubwallet one of the standout acts at SXSW. A further EP, Our Bodies Paint Traffic Lines, followed in 2024.
