Formerly Carnage, rebuilt as a tech-house producer with a Latin percussion streak and a much better record collection — a genuine second act.
Gordo is the current project of Diamanté Blackmon, the American producer and DJ who spent the 2010s recording as Carnage and became a fixture of festival-stage EDM and trap. He retired that name near the end of the decade and re-emerged as Gordo with a markedly different sound.
The Gordo records lean on tech house and minimal grooves, often built around Latin percussion and looped vocal fragments, and he has worked with Drake among others. The reinvention involved a shift in venue as much as style, moving from main-stage festival slots toward club and open-air dance settings.
