Border-raised songwriter refusing to pick a genre — punk, rap, and shoegaze inside a single track, stitched together with pop instincts.

Jean Dawson was born in Tijuana and grew up crossing the border daily to attend school in San Diego, a split upbringing he has often described as shaping his music. His songs move between distorted guitars, rap cadences, hazy melodic passages and pop structure, frequently within the same track, and he tends to resist being placed in any one scene.

He self-released early material before the albums Pixel Bath and CHAOS NOW*, which drew attention for their restless production and for collaborations with artists from outside his immediate genre. His live shows lean toward the punk end of his catalogue.
