Murphy's Law
NYHC party priests since '82 — Jimmy G leading hardcore's longest-running good time, circle pits with a smile since day one.
Murphy's Law were founded in New York City in 1982 by vocalist Jimmy Gestapo, and are among the longest-running bands to come out of the city's hardcore scene. Their self-titled debut appeared in the mid-1980s, and where many of their peers dealt in politics or street-level aggression, Murphy's Law built a reputation on humour, beer and songs about having a good time.
Musically the band mixes standard hardcore tempos with ska, reggae and rock and roll, a range that set them apart from other CBGB-era acts. Gestapo has remained the constant member through a long series of line-up changes, and the group has kept playing shows for four decades.
