Scissor Sisters

1 festival played

New York glam-disco troupe fronted by Jake Shears and Ana Matronic, whose falsetto hooks and cabaret theatrics turned 'I Don't Feel Like Dancin'' into a global staple.

Scissor Sisters formed in New York in 2001, emerging from the city's gay nightlife and electroclash scene around singer Jake Shears, co-vocalist Ana Matronic and multi-instrumentalist Babydaddy. Their music drew on 1970s glam, disco and piano-driven pop, delivered with cabaret staging and a heavy dose of camp.

Their 2004 self-titled debut, which included 'Take Your Mama' and a disco reworking of Pink Floyd's 'Comfortably Numb,' was far more successful in Britain than at home and made them a fixture of UK radio and festival bills. The follow-up, Ta-Dah, produced 'I Don't Feel Like Dancin'', co-written with Elton John. Later albums Night Work and Magic Hour pushed further into club and electronic production.
