Chicago Latinx quintet fusing cumbia, salsa, and psych-rock into sweaty, politically charged pan-American grooves — organ-driven and built for dancing.

Dos Santos is a band from Chicago whose music draws on cumbia, salsa and other Latin American forms, filtered through psychedelic rock and jazz. The group works with organ, electric guitar and layered percussion, and sings largely in Spanish; its members' backgrounds across the Americas feed into the pan-continental range of the material. Alex Chavez, a scholar as well as a musician, sings and plays in the group.

Their recordings, including work released through the Chicago label International Anthem, mix danceable rhythms with looser, more exploratory arrangements, and their sets tend toward the same balance.
