Frankie and the Witch Fingers began in Bloomington, Indiana, before relocating to Los Angeles, where they became part of the city's busy garage and psychedelic rock scene. The band has released records at a steady pace since the mid-2010s.
Their sound combines garage punk urgency with repetitive, motorik grooves borrowed from krautrock, layered with fuzz guitar, organ and heavily effected vocals. Songs are often built on a single insistent rhythm that gradually accumulates distortion, and the group is known primarily as a live act, playing at high volume and sustained tempo.
