M.A.T.B. (fka Miranda and The Beat)

M.A.T.B. is the current name of the band formerly known as Miranda and The Beat, led by guitarist and singer Miranda Zipse. The group formed in New York and has since relocated to New Orleans, working under its new name since 2018.
The band works in a garage rock idiom that draws on 1960s soul and R&B, built on Farfisa-style organ, fuzzed guitar and a heavy backbeat. Songs tend to be short and riff-driven, recorded with a raw, live-sounding production approach that carries over into their live shows.
Zipse plays guitar and sings, joined by Dylan Fernandez on Farfisa organ and guitar, with Alvin Jackson and Christian King forming the rhythm section on bass and drums. The four have built the band's reputation largely through steady touring and an energetic stage presentation.
M.A.T.B. has toured alongside bands including Black Lips, The Spits and The King Khan and BBQ Show, sharing bills that run through the same garage and soul-punk lineage the band draws from. Their music has appeared on Third Man Records, Khannibalism/EJRC and Wild Honey.
A new LP, Nerve Damage, is due next. It moves through punk, 1980s new wave and power-pop, trading some of the band's rawest edges for a tighter, more polished attack while keeping the same nervous energy.
